On Tisha B’Av, the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, we commemorate the destruction of both ancient Temples in Jerusalem, as well as other tragedies throughout Jewish history.

Ma’ariv and the Reading of Eikhah

We gather in the evening for our annual commemoration of Tisha b’Av, including the Ma’ariv service, the singing of Kinnoth/קינות (dirges), reflective readings, and the chanting the Biblical book of איכה/Eikhah (Lamentations) in its unique and plaintive melody.

This will be an in-person event in our sanctuary, though there will also be a Zoom option.
