Rabbi

Originally from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Rabbi Charlie graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Near Eastern and Judaic studies, and received his M.A., Rabbinical Ordination, and D.D. (hon.) from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He has served pulpits in the Midwest, California, the Boston area, and Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.

Rabbi Charlie grew up in the Conservative Movement as both a camper and staff member at Camp Ramah in the Poconos (1970-1990), and has been involved in many programs of the movement, through Camp Ramah, the Jewish Theological Seminary, and Neve Schechter (now the Schechter Institute) in Jerusalem.

Interfaith work has been an important part of Rabbi Charlie’s rabbinate, having served in interfaith organizations in Kansas City and Ottawa. He is currently the president of Rockaway Neighborhood, an interfaith group composed of clergy and leaders in their religious communities dedicated to educating and fostering interfaith understanding and social action.

Rabbi Charlie is the proud father of Noa & Aliza and husband of Alison. He is happily in his tenth year with Or Hadash.
